Holiday Moods, NYC

Take a walk with me in the magic of a Manhattan evening at Christmas time.

This time of year in the city gets me every time.

There is really nothing quite so magical as New York at Christmas time.  Any determination to resist the romance stands no chance against the glittery lights within the darkness of the season, the steam rising from the streets, the jolly chaos of holiday humanity, the smell of Christmas trees at every other corner.  It all feels like a film set, even more than usual.  It makes life — however stark — feel stylized.  Like living in a sensorial painting.  The warm lights in the cold night feel hopeful somehow, despite the Dickensian realities that are all around us.  It is irresistible.
